Ambeash International Last updated: 31 Aug,2026

Ambeash International (“Ambeash,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information of everyone who visits ambeash.org (the “Site”) or interacts with our programmes. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It is written to comply with Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, and general good-practice data protection principles.

By using this Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy.

1. Who We Are

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information you choose to give us, and a small amount of technical information collected automatically when you browse the Site.

a) Information you provide directly

  • Contact form (Contact Us page): your name, email address, and the content of your message.
  • Newsletter sign-up (footer): your email address.
  • Direct email or phone contact: any information you include when you write or call us — for example, if you’re enquiring about joining a training cohort, placing a bulk product order, or partnering with us.

b) Information collected automatically

  • Standard technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, collected through our hosting platform and any analytics tools we use (e.g., Google Analytics), to help us understand how the Site is used.
  • Cookies: small data files stored on your device. We use cookies for basic site functionality and, if enabled, analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the Site may not work as intended.
  • Embedded content: our Contact Us page uses an embedded Google Map. Google may collect data (such as your IP address) when the map loads, governed by Google’s own Privacy Policy.

c) Information about our programme beneficiaries Stories, quotes, and photographs of women and girls who have taken part in our training (e.g., in our “Community Voices” section) are published only with the individual’s informed consent, given directly to Ambeash — never collected through this website’s forms.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to enquiries submitted through the Contact Us form or by email/phone;
  • Send newsletter updates to those who subscribe, about our programmes, impact, and ways to get involved;
  • Process requests to join a training cohort, place a bulk product order, or explore a partnership (e.g., with a shop or school);
  • Maintain and improve the Site, and understand how visitors use it;
  • Meet legal, safeguarding, or reporting obligations, including to our donors and partners.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Where Ugandan or other applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on:

  • Consent — for example, when you submit the contact form or subscribe to our newsletter;
  • Legitimate interest — for example, basic analytics to keep the Site secure and functioning well;
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to keep certain records (e.g., for donor reporting or safeguarding).

You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 8, Your Rights).

5. Who We Share Information With

We may share limited information with:

  • Service providers who help us run the Site or communicate with supporters, such as our web hosting provider, email/newsletter platform, and Google (for embedded maps and, if used, analytics) — each bound to use data only to provide their service to us;
  • Donors and partners, only in aggregated or anonymised form (e.g., “20 women trained”), unless a beneficiary has separately consented to be named or featured;
  • Authorities, where required by Ugandan law, or to protect the safety of a child or vulnerable person.

We do not share your personal information with any other third party without your consent, except as described above.

6. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected:

  • Contact form enquiries are retained only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable follow-up period.
  • Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Programme and beneficiary records are retained in line with our safeguarding and donor-reporting obligations, and are stored securely.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

Under Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you and why;
  • Request a copy of your personal information;
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or outdated information;
  • Ask us to delete your personal information, or withdraw consent (e.g., unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us directly);
  • Object to how your information is used;
  • Lodge a complaint with Uganda’s Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO) if you believe your data protection rights have been violated.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at ambeashi@gmail.com.

9. Children and Vulnerable Beneficiaries

Many of the women and girls in our training programmes are minors or from vulnerable backgrounds (including teen mothers, school dropouts, and survivors of gender-based violence). We take extra care with any information or images relating to them:

  • The Site’s forms are intended for general enquiries, partners, and supporters — not for programme applications by minors without a parent, guardian, or local leader involved.
  • Any story, photo, or quote from a beneficiary is published only with informed consent from the individual (and a parent/guardian where the individual is a minor), obtained directly by Ambeash staff, and can be withdrawn at any time on request.

10. Third-Party Links

Our Site may contain links to third-party websites (for example, our social media pages). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies separately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will indicate when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

12. Contact Us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, please contact us:

Note for the site editor: fill in the “Last updated” date once published, and confirm which analytics/email tools you’re actually using (e.g., Google Analytics, Mailchimp) so Section 2 and 5 name them precisely rather than “if used.”
